I just read this article that said the ACU blouse will now have zippers on the shoulder pockets. What are the thoughts on this, easier to use or not?

It's a good idea, but as the debate goes on for a new camouflage pattern I find it difficult to think about investing in a new uniform component cause there is a zipper.

I believe the zippers will become part of the uniform in 2015. Hopefully the new pattern uniforms will have them too.

Zipper or buttons. Anything but hook and loop tape will work. Or even better we could go back to BDU's. They work great.

SSG Ramos,

The Army selected the Scorpion pattern. This seems like they are starting to work the pattern of the new uniform into production in order to have everything retooled when the new fabric is ready.

Tracking that Sir, just find it difficult to fathom investing in a uniform item that might be in an obsolete pattern soon

My question, before buying yet another edition of the ACU, is when is the new approved utility uniform due to come out/be authorized for wear?

Sir,

I still have not heard a timeline on this, but I have confirmation that there was information coming out of the SMA's office regarding the pattern.

If the rumors are true, it is just enough different from the multicam to not be copyright infringement for garrison and two variants for deployed environments.

I would just like them to execute. Both this and the new PTs. I know I'll be expected to get them, and they should be the last set of uniforms I have to buy before they officially declare me too old to play.

This is kind of like putting a new coat of paint on an old car a month before you sell it. Could have been useful years ago perhaps...

We need buttons on the leg pockets so that the pocket will not sag open if you put anything of greater weight than a Kleenex in it. I fiddled around with installing buttons on my trousers. I was a Scout like SSG Stephenson and the velcro was worse than useless. Also eliminate the ties in the pant legs and replace with elastic. This is another alteration that is fairly easy to make, but it is such an improvement that you would think it would be standard.

Also, add pen holes in the right sleeve for those poor left handers out there.

Great ideas, Sir! I'm a leftie and would love to wear my pens on the right.

All of the trousers I bought within the last year came with buttons on the cargo pockets, so if they're not being sold at your post yet, they should be soon.

All the new ACUs have bottoms on trousers now but they also have bottoms for the cuffs. The only issue is that they are inverted from how they were on the BDU. It makes it nearly impossible to fix with one hand.

I hate the buttons on the cuffs....it's either cut off circulation or have my sleeve hang onto my hand. They also never stay buttoned.
