15W AIT Fort Huachuca Weekend Pass?

Does anyone know what AIT for 15W is like at Ft. Huachuca? In particular, is it likely to be allowed to visit family in Tucson on weekends after getting to Phase V?
I ask because I know there’s often restrictions on how far you can go on pass, and Tucson is 75 miles away.

That is going to be up to your training command. The usual radius for travel is 50 miles, even on a weekend pass.

Currently in AIT for 15W at Huachuca. As of right now we are not allowed to leave post on weekends per command.

It's just as well. When I was there it cost $30 (round trip) to get to the off post shopping area with a Walmart. What a waste of $30. I never left post again, stayed local and walked everywhere.

Anything more than 50 miles away (one way) will require a pass filled out and approved.

As of June 2014, per post commanders guidance, weekend/over night passes are no longer authorized. After all of this COVID non-sense ends, you will be allowed to leave post when you get to Phase V but must return prior to bed check which is usually 9 or 10pm.

Now the explanation to this is because of an incident that occurred with the 35F AIT in which certain individuals were granted a pass and booked a hotel room just off post, threw a party, alcohol was involved, couches on fire were thrown out windows. It was just an overall bad time for the post. That was 3 cycles prior to mine.

On 06 JUL 2014, a male soldier attending the 15W AIT decided it would be a good idea to attempt to repel from the 3rd floor of the barracks down to the first using bed sheets to try and sneak into a females room. Bed sheets came apart and he fell, shattering his pelvis and forcing a 100% health and well fare in the middle of the night with 15 individuals popping hot on urinalysis.

I guess what does suck is there is no mixing genders in the AIT barracks. This of course made certain activities logistically harder to execute without great UCMJ risk.

While I was there one could get an overnight pass OFF POST on the weekend where the logistical limitations of no mixed genders in the barracks wasn't an issue.

So for that, I guess it might be worth the travel costs. But other than that, it's a waste of effort.

You will be getting to know the base very well since you are not allowed to leave it. Unless COVID restrictions lift that is.

At the moment I'm on graduate holds and our day schedule consists of 0800 PT, 1000 holds training, 1130 chow, 1300 accountability (weed picking for an hour), and 1500 close out. 1630 phase 5 can 5 plus can wear civilian clothes and only at 1830 Friday night can you order commercial food or go to shoppette.

When the base opens up again for Aviation AIT students, the current limitations for Phase V and V+ are 30 miles and 100 miles respectively.

When you get to Huachuca your AIT commander will provide you this info. More than likely you will not be allowed to leave Sierra Vista. But if there is a special circumstance occurring in Tucson, say your father is getting remarried, or your grandmother died, you could request a SPECIAL pass to travel up and attend. I’m not promising it will be approved, but it is possible.

When I was in AIT or Leadership course, it was 50 miles if more mile it's must be on official pass or leave papers. Must request through Platoon LDR.
Now this was back in the 80's.

How is Ft Huachuca? I loved it there.
I was station there back in the 90's.
My girls loved it too.
