Executive Order 13661, now prohibits Russian gun maker Kalashnikov Concern (formerly Izhmash) from being imported into the United States. This measure to curb further Russian aggression.

This is obviously just a way to further gun control and try to make it look good. Does anyone believe that this order would be rescinded if Putin changes?

Yeah, that alone should be enough pressure to stop the Ukrainian crisis, not. This actually helps the cause as the black market on this stuff will multiply 2-fold. Another great announcement brought to you from our Whitehouse - the sweetest smelling political residence in the world!

MAJ Robert Petrarca STOP making sense and making me giggle like a school girl. ;-) I did not even think about the black market angle. It really will just cause people to buy more crappy Chinese guns.

It sure is scary with the Ukraine, Iran, Israel and the southern boarder going on all at once. Which way does one look?

The Obama administration has created so much unintended consequence, it will be the study of idiocracy for centuries to come.

Meh, there are enough manufacturers here in the US that they could easily make those style of weapons locally. The question is, will there be enough interest in a locally produced (thus more expensive) version to make it a viable business model. When he starts banning ALL firearms importations, I'll start to worry.

LTC Paul Labrador - You know normally I agree with you and enjoy your posts. But if you are not going to worry until all importations of firearms are stopped I think it will be too late.

There are enough domestic ammunition manufacturers that they could make .22LR but where is all the 22LR? Heck you have to pay from .08 to as much as .60 per round now. I would think that an ammunition manufacturer would be all over that deal. The point is not whether or not a domestic manufacturer could make the guns it is another move towards gun control.

Do you honestly believe this ban will ever be lifted? Also those M1 Garands, Springfield 1903s etc were made in the good old USA and we cannot bring them back. If we were to bring them back wouldn't that mean jobs for people to unload them, people to ship them to stores, shippers to get them there, people buying them paying taxes on them, buying more ammo would mean more jobs at ammo plants and the whole cycle starts over again. As our vice president would say that sounds like the three letter word "JOBS". ;-)

Cpl Brett Wagner There always seem to be an end game involved here. Sad but true.
