For years good Sr. NCO's are being overlooked for promotion because the lack of positions, or they simply can not call in a favor for promotion. Do you think this makes them lose some of their fire year after year?

I'll tell you as an AGR recruiter it's virtually impossible to see E8. According to the proponent brief there are about 28 leadership positions for us....about 500 e7's, the math says promotion isn't there.
At a certain point it is discouraging seeing others get picked up but in my case I'm ok being an E-7 and I love the reward from my job and that's enough, at least for now. Others may see promotion as the only thing that makes the working hard worth while and that could be a real buzz kill.

Syracuse huh? That's where I went to MEPS. In my MOS there was a chance to make MSG, but those that make it aren't always the best of the best. I told myself years ago I will never work for a MSG 25B. I also said I would never take a MSG 25B position because there is somebody getting the paycheck that should be doing the job. The Sr. promotion system has completely discouraged me, my only desire is to retire now. Let those MSG 25B's that don't know the difference between a Server and a Computer, or that can't march a formation or conduct PRT control the future of the Army. I'm so done.
