Where is all of the help for veteran-owned small businesses (that keeps being talked about in all the business magazines and blogs)?

Here in Texas that is handled at the State Level and they have a roving program that moves from City to City that puts on a 4-8 hour Seminar on Starting and Running a Small Business (I can't remember but I believe they kicked in for lunch). I heard of it because I went through the County VA Office on more than one occasion and they have my Email and they sent me an Email invite. You have to take the initiative to reach out because the County VA doesn't always know your a Veteran. I registered with them the last time I was unemployed. Their employment programs suck for White Collar folks but it was cool meeting other Veterans for an occassional get together.

I walked into the small business administration (SBA) in Flower Mound, Texas. A veteran was in charge.
There are veteran programs for business. Some have been posted here in the past. I suspect, we can look up past topics and search for the ones we want.
When I went to the SBA I was looking for wisdom. I did not want a loan. My business is regulated by the State and the Federal government. I wish I had performed more research on requirements before I purchased my ultrasound machine. Knowledge on what you want to do is key to avoiding mistakes/errors.
My GYSgt always referred to me as a stinking genius. I guess, that is why I did not read enough on the regulations. Being a stinking genius, I thought I knew everything on the issue.

Very interesting question indeed. I guess this will be a thread I really need to watch closely. Possibly folks more knowledgeable than I shall hop on here with some great info.

Your in Texas too!!! Texas has some of the most advanced Veteran programs of any other state, IMO. You need to reach out and check them out. Google Veterans Land Board for land for sale.......yeah not always optimal but it is something. Additionally as a Texas Veteran you qualify for entrance into the Veterans Old Folks Home when you reach that point. Other benefits as well. They used to have a bridge program going not too long ago that funded education for two years for those earlier folks prior to GWOT that let their VEAP or Educational Benefits lapse. I think that has expired now. You need to get on the VA's mailing list probably. Just pop in to your County VA Officer's Office........its usually some old retired MSG from eons ago. And see what they can do.

Also, will tell you as a FYI. A lot of the Plano car dealerships are very familiar with the USAA Car buying program and can hook you up that way for discounts on new cars and trucks. I was amazed when I bought my SUV but apparently the Dallas area has a lot of USAA members.
