After getting married, when is it appropriate to change my name tape?

I am in the Reserves and I am getting married the weekend before drill. Am I allowed to wear my new name tapes to drill or do I have to wait until everything is changed on the Army side?

SGT(P) (Join to see) Wait....
Submit the required forms and supporting documentation though your command and the Admin section.
Then go to DEERs with the required supporting documentation and update DEERS, have a new ID card issued.
The real change was in your heart..... so go with that for the weekend....let the somewhat slower process of the admin work catch up to stay on the right side of the regulations as well as help yourself avoid pay screw ups, personal accountability issues (credit for drill) or worse case if you need to prove your identity and the name your presenting is not matched to your ID card.

Capt Tom Brown - Thanks Sir..
SGT(P) (Join to see) .. My wife of 25 years now..when we were married, she still had her ex Husband last name.. They parted ways peacefully so it was never a priority for her...
The process was, she went from name A, to B-Maiden name to C- my last name in the space of a week.
The unit command and NCO's were like... Hey you changed you name on tuesday ..then come thursday...hey..wait, i thought your name was Salo yesterday? who the heck is Marquez....and why are you wearing that name....

You can change the name tape any time you want.
Nobody is going to check DEERS or the S1 to ensure you filed the right paperwork.
They are velcro after all. ;-)
Congratulations

Honestly I think you do but it's been years since I needed to do it. I mean it really depends on your command. Do you think they would actually be pissed over you changing the name on your uniforms before finishing paperwork?

SGT(P) (Join to see) - Yes the Name change and deers update must be done before you wear the new name.

I agree DEERS first and since you have SRP, that's even better, bring your marriage paper work and update your files with the SRP people and have your UA iperm your documents.
