With the authorization by the President for the use of our Air Forces, does this mean that we are getting sucked back into Iraq? I feel that we are about a month or so late to this party, as we should have done this to assist the Iraqi forces as soon as ISIS attacked Mosul, but that is my personal opinion. I am not advocating "boots on the ground" believe me, my son is in Kuwait at the moment and I do not want him to have to endure dealing with these assclowns if at all possible, regardless of how badly he wants a "combat patch", but I do think we should have provided them with air power assistance a while ago. Just wanted to see what my fellow veterans and currently serving brothers and sisters-in-arms think about it!

At this point, we are not dropping bombs to save American lives, only to delay ISIS's inevitable movement towards where our embassy and troops are. Even Superman in the comics had to come to the realization that he could not save everyone. Right now US trying to play Superman is not working especially when the situation is an internal struggle in another country. I say leave Iraq, comeback home and strengthen our defenses against the "I hate America" club whose membership both internally and externally, keeps growing by the hour. IMHO, many Americans are at the saturation point of enough is enough, I know I am.

And I might concur to any notion that whether you prosecute war or peace, you must manage your economy otherwise you are conducting psychological warfare against yourself. People turn when we get involved in protracted wars with unclear objectives. We need to step back and replenish ourselves.

Assurances - he, he, he - I can get better and more reliable assurances from the local mob.
POTUS is out of a job in 2 years all he's worried about at this point in time is his legacy - which considering his "assurances" on the VA and immigration - isn't boding too well.

Agreed! IMHO, I strongly believe that we need to focus our attention on continuing to rebuild the damaged lives of those who've lost so much serving. We've spent way too much money on things that doesn't improve the very Americans fighting this war. Instead of giving millions to delay an imminent tragedy using that money would best be used to rebuild many shattered economical structures in the US. How can we continue to help others if we do not attend our needs?

I understand all the sentiment of not wanting to do anything. And it is very disheartening that we left the Iraqi government the tools to go forward. And we did accomplish our mission. But in the bigger picture this is not just an Iraqi problem. With Islamic extremist everywhere this effects the world. But with the rest of the world with their heads up their *$% (except Israel) they leave the job to America to protect the world. We do have are hands full with Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Syria, Iraq. Hell where are we not involved. I don't profess to have any answers and it would sure help to have a real leader in the White House. If we are not careful the world will not exist the way we remember it.

I agree Russia being one of our allies in WW2 sure took what they wanted. While the Brits and the U S let them have it. Yes what a concept to have our own oil and quit our dependency. We should also quit hindering Israel and let them destroy Hamas once and for all.

I dunno if we did accomplish our mission. The Iraqis weren't gonna do for themselves because we were doing it for them, and now that they are forced to, they are failing miserably.

First it already is not the world I remember... the purpose of terrorism is to cause fear and change (among other things). They have, caused us to change the way we live (look at the airports)...
But if we started using our own oil. Pulled our money and business from the middle east and dealt only with nations that honor the rule of law, then it still wouldn't be our problem. And if they chose to attack us again then we release the dogs of war. Otherwise let's secure our borders, fix our infra-structure, improve our schools, clean up our neighborhoods... I don't believe in isolationism (that's foolish)... but I believe in taking care of ourselves first.

I mean, has anyone seen the "Solar Freaking Roadways" video on YouTube? Putting that into feasible application would be a HUGE energy source, and would provide an economic motivation to car companies to manufacture affordable electric vehicles.
