SPC Phil Norton - I understand. But you cannot let this one incident keep you from doing good things.

You're not alone, I transferred posts to a different one for the same reasons and things got a lot better, not perfect but better. I'm now the commander of our post and youngest commander in the state by 20 years with the rest of my officer team being younger than me. Some posts are great to visit but when I wasn't an officer I rarely attended meetings until the change of power happened lasts couple years

SSG Shavonde Chase The Brevard NC Legion Post is providing honor guard at the county veterans obelisk from 0700 to 1700 - 30 minute shifts. Also having a hot dog/hamburger cookout in the evening for the members.

American Legion, Post 208, Millis, MA where i am Commander in addition to our regular post meeting We have a coffee every Thursday morning year round for anyone that is a veteran. its entirely social and You don't have to be a Legion Member, just a Veteran. We also have guest speakers at some of our meetings to include the pilot on the lead aircraft, call sign Cherry 1 on the Son Tay POW rescue Mission into North Viet Nam, a speech from an Army Lt. Colonel who was a Doctor forward deployed with Special Force in Afganistan, both included slides and talk plue question and answer period. We also have a veteran's breakfast on both Memorial Day and Veterans day free to any Veteran. We provide honor guards for funerals etc. If one of our members passes on we may have 2 to 3 dozen members show for the funeral detail. We have social functions during the year, dinner, picnics etc and a big Christmas party during the holiday season. We are about to dedicate a new War Memorial to the Persian Gulf War, Panama and Grenada. We also sponsor a Boy scout Troop in our post building which had 7 Eagle Scouts this year. We also now have the Girl Scouts meeting in our Post building as well. Last week We had a round table discussion with the entire Sophmore Class of the Millis High School with many Veteran's sitting down with a group of students. We have done that every year at the request of the High School History Department. in addition We have had speeches in from of the entire High School student body in the school auditorium per request of the High School. That is a partial list of the activities during the year of our Legion Post. The 1st picture is of our post building, there is another floor not visible under what You can see You here in the back. The 2nd picture is the inside of the main Hall in the Legion Post building.
