So, I have been in since 1993 and have a National Defense Ribbon with one bronze star. How many bronze stars should I have on that?

Just the one, Sir. I came in back in '93 as well, and received the NDSM at that time since there was no cut off created. Again, you have the right amount.

LTC (Join to see) - Is this perhaps the two-star in question? Major General H. Michael Edwards? If so, he is authorized 2 service stars on his NSDM because his first assignment post graduation was in August 1973.

When you joined in 93 the ND was still authorized from the first Gulf War. That period ended sometime in 95. When the September 11 attacks happened the ND was again authorized and that period has not yet ended. This means you should have the medal with one bronze star.

Thank you for the info Staff, I was not sure myself as to how many stars if any belonged on the ND ribbon.
