This is
something we all take for granted on a daily basis. When we Invest time – it should
be in/towards something that will yield a benefit at a later time. When we
spend time – it should be in/towards something meaningful and mutual to
everyone involved; for example with friends and family – creating memories.
But, what we often find ourselves doing is Wasting time – putting energy/effort
into something or someone that will result in no benefit for anything or anyone.
I encourage you to review your daily schedule and categorize your activities
subjectively and see where your time is most often devoted to. This revelation
should prompt an immediate urge in you to change your routine towards yielding
more value in the outcome. There should never be an excuse why something
important in your life couldn’t be accomplished if you didn’t WASTE your time.

Well, my wife says that RP is wasting time... but I'm trying to convince her that I am investing time to learn from the experiences of a wide variety of seniors.

Sometimes the difference between wasting time and investing time is just a paradigm shift.

I absolutely agree with that. RP is a tool to invest time, because you are inheriting knowledge that will subsequently benefit you in the future. Maybe she is saying that because she wants to Spend time with her. ;)
