Ok I confess my mind is just wandering here...

In the event some major war breaks out in a "theater near you" (in the US) ... should or should not Veterans, especially those considering themselves Patriots ... rethink displaying any information visually around their homes or vehicles about such possible status? And does this answer depend on branch served?

I know "the system" has our info, but it would still take "local tyranny" extra time to run on-location checks. I also figure displaying USMC keeps some of the "smarter Zombies" at bay (little stops the dumber ones). But at some point maybe "the value of that" might become less...than the value of maintaining as much "stealth mode" about ourselves as possible.his is my afterthought about how we keep hearing about some Vets being told by various HoAs they cannot display flags or colors, then some of them paint their entire houses to match the American Flag. Which I might do myself someday. But I was considering the complete reverse....perhaps we should tell "them" Nothing. Nope no Sir nothing to see here Sir just move along now...etc.

Your thoughts? (don't just tell me I'm crazy---I have already been "dutifully informed". =)

I have never been one to shirk duties. If a scenario played out as you depict, and there was a lawful reason for defense of the nation against domestic enemies, I would lawfully and dutifully defend our nation. To that regard, I would absolutely let it be known that I was a veteran and make myself available to which ever commander was closest to me who was taking lawful steps to correct the injustice. As a veteran I believe that is my duty.

I dont disagree about Duty, I just wondered if communicating our willingness of further "Duty" to non-combatant Americans who may need our help...should maybe happen a bit more covertly, and not being as easily identifiable to the faces of any such possible "Tyranny" etc.

I have never been accuse of being subtle, I do not think I could pull it off. On my street we have a cohort of veterans who everyone knows they can come to when they do not have the spine for confrontation. I like that people know I am a veteran. To each their own.

Since the house I'm buying has a flag pole in the front yard, I'll be alternating the Texas and Marine Corps flags. Oh and the US flag on special days. Far be it from me to turn down a zombie fight in the front yard. The Marine Corps general orders float around in my head like a song you can't stop thinking about. "To be especially watchful at night and, during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post (house), and to allow no one to pass without proper authority."

Don't hide anything now or won't then. What you see is what you get.
