I just received word that a Law Enforcement friend of mine lost his life on duty. Days like today remind me of all of you out there standing between my family and the Darkness. So, as one of your “bosses” I’m going to remind you of some of your unwritten standing orders:

Remember that although you volunteer to do what you do, doesn’t mean that we expect you to be Alvin York or Audie Murphy. Your first duty is to return home to those that love you and need you.

Remember that there ARE limits to what you can do. The BEST you can do as a human being is to Do Good, Push Back The Darkness and Suppress Evil. Your Country and your Family do not ask you to die for us. We are eternally grateful that you serve and protect us.

Remember, and never doubt, that there are many, many thousands of Americans praying for your health, happiness and safety every day. Keep your spirits up… you are not walking your path – in or out of uniform – “alone”. You never were and never will be “alone”.

Lastly, remember that from the bottom of our grateful but aching heart, America thanks you...

Please don’t reply. Just take the above words and remember them today (and every day) and do what is necessary in the office, in the field, on patrol and especially downrange, to return home to your friends and family.
