Can I join the Army (11X with Option 40), at the age of 17 (Turning 18 within 6 months) with a GED?

EDIT: I got my GED on the 20170119. Dropped out of school on 20160927
NOTE: I went to MEPS 20170310 they disqualified me for my age with my GED, saying I was barred from joining the Army due to my education until I turned 18. As per a regulation that wasn't a 'regulation' per say but a 'message'
When I went back to my recruiter, he, and the entire recruiting office was confused at to what this regulation is.
Have you ever heard of something like this?

Currently a Recruiter- Because the Army needs a are constantly changing on top of Regulations we use USAREC Messages. Now as far as the GED, you must be 18to join with a GED unless you have 15 college semester hours with the GED. With the 15 semester hours, you are then viewed as a high school graduate. As of right now Austin you can either wait or do 15 semester hours of college

Austin Hocutt - Also be aware that the GED requires an ASVAB score of 50 to qualify for enlistment. Plus, if the recruiting year is going good and they have HS graduates that want to enlist, they may not allow a GED anyway.

Well I scored a 64 on my ASVAB, 111 on my GT, 109 on my CO.
Just today I called my recruiters and they had found the regulation, in which they apologized for it, but that's fine sometimes a setback is not a bad thing, in this case. I'll be using it to the fullest of getting both mentally, physically, spiritually prepared for the day when I hit the ground, that I'll take off running.

Don't know about now, but I recall that as a female with a GED I was required to get 18 college credits to join. That was 25 years ago. And I had them before a year was up and shipped on schedule. I was 24.

Nope. I didn't get my commission in the regular Army. I did seven years enlisted and had to take a medical discharge. I went to college and completed my Baccalaureate afterwards. I was commissioned in the Alabama State Defense Force, now defunct but at that time a part of the Alabama National Guard operating only within the state.
