my opinion - Tricare prime is the better option if it is available in your location - you pay a reasonable premium yearly (can be broken down into monthly or bi annually) and your medical care is taken care of without co payments or deductibles - standard you pay co payments and have a deductible. As for dental, Delta dental is also extremely reasonable if you have family members who will rely on it, VA dental is free if you are 100% service connected disabled. I would visit a VA rep to better explain what is available and inform you on the pro's and cons/

TRICARE prime for retirees has copays for many things, but they are less than those for TRICARE standard. And certain things, like durable medical supplies you pay like 20% and I think the standard has higher %s.

I am single and retired couple months ago and trying to enroll health and dental care. I have Tricare standard ( automatically ) but I am not sure if Tricare prime is better.
Tricare dental good to enroll as well or vet dental?
