I definitely have a list of topics. The Army is pretty good about coming up with something that benefits from discussion. Reaching out to the NCOs and Jr Enlisted out there..

What topic(s) would you like to see presented for NCOPD? The intent is to put together relevant, interesting, informative discussions that will build cohesion within the NCO corps. Officers, veterans and retirees: Please chime in as well.

I sat through many NCOPDs and a lot of them center around NCOERs. What about one to show the correct way to use the DA Form 2166-8-1 NCOER Support Form? In my unit, we are required to submit the support forms with the NCOER for review.

Proper NCOER writing direct from the CSM. How many NCOERs get bounced all around and end up with the CSM who has significant issues that need addressing? The SSG who wrote the NCOER usually has multiple layers of red tape between himself and the CSM. We have far too many NCOs (and Officers) who can't write an NCOER for crap. But I think at a Battalion-level, the CSM sitting down with the SSGs and above to teach them how to write bullets, match rater/senior rater comments so they aren't contradictory, what (in the CSM's opinion) constitutes an excellance, promote now, and 1/1, rather than it just getting kicked back by the CSM through multiple iterations of "improvements." I think this is one of the weakest areas for our mid-level leaders. I've made note of this before, but the last 6 months in this job have really shown me a whole lot more as I review NCOERs from around the Army as the primary recruiter for a nominative assignment (USAPAT).

1SG Chris Brown , That one is a definite. I keep all of the NCOERS that I review, in original format. I use those as examples (Striking out the admin info) to show examples of "good" and "bad" bullet statements.

From an CO perspective the three things that need the most attention on the administrative side of the house is how to write NCOERs, counselings, and awards. It is great to know what you want to say, but it is another thing if you do not know how to put it down on paper and tell others what you think.

As far as other things PCCs and PCIs is great. How to create a leaders book and keep it current/how to utilize it. The other things that many NCOs struggle with should be taught to junior enlisted during JETS.

JETS topics would be how to put together a promotion packet, how to do counselings, DNC (how to be the leader and conduct it), and how to run a formation for PT and accountability.
