Who has a child in a JROTC program? My youngest son just started his freshman year in high school and is participating in the school's JROTC program. So far, he is enjoying the learning environment and camaraderie with his fellow cadets.
Today, as seen from the picture, was his school's JROTC organizational day. The picture is the company he's been assigned to. He had a lot of fun today although he's very tired from all the activities. His mom, brother and I attended and we had fun watching the activities as well as meeting with fellow parents. Overall, I'm very impressed with the Senior Instructor and the program. I definitely would recommend any parent to encourage their child to paticipate even if they don't have a desire to go ROTC.
How about you?

The school my kids attended didn't offer it, but my God daughter chose to participate. She's actually considering active duty as well. Her dad was a Marine.

I do not have children in the program currently (hopefully my daughter will in a few years), but i wanted to throw in a two cent piece about my instructor. Though he was Air Force (Ramstein, Germany) SMSgt Speller was one of the most influential people in my life. More than just an instructor he was a friend, father figure, dare I say hero, and compass that helped me "understand" life.
I am not too good with words off the top of my head... I strive to leave the best impression I can when meeting someone every time, because I am sure that he is unaware how much of an impression he left on me day after day. I won't say that he turned my life around or anything, but he gave me some bonus qualities that make me the bamf I am today.
