Movie and TV shows with inaccurate military content-do people sometimes avoid watching them with you?

My wife almost never watches anything with me that has a military theme, as she can't stand my tendency to call things out...
Case in point, as a prior helicopter rescue swimmer, I can't watch "The Guardian" with a straight face, there's so many points of ridiculousness-but to my wife... I'm just ruining the movie.

I've got a more general problem with historical movies. I spot and point out various anachronisms. The anachronisms are often military - use of modern stirrups in ancient movies, cannon balls that explode, etc... Other times it is a references to something not yet discovered - e.g. -hummingbirds referenced in the Roman Empire (hummingbirds were exclusive to the Western Hemisphere), potatoes in Europe before the Columbian exchange, etc...

Senior, as a history nut myself, I'm also guilty of that. If there was at least an effort to stay true to history, it bothers me less than when there is an apparent disregard for accuracy.

I still watch them since many are funny to watch especially pointing out the idiotic discrepancies. One that I noticed the other day was when we were watching the Dustin Hoffman movie "Outbreak". Donald Sutherland is in it playing the 2 Star General. He has an SF patch, Airborne Tab and an SF tab as his combat patch. WRONG!!! SF Tabs are not utilized on the right shoulder. LOL.
