Because I am the child of a Service Member who decided to "European Out" many years ago, I attended a German High school and received a German HS diploma but I am a US citizen born in Delaware....
I was able to join the US Army, after having a Community College translate and verify my diploma, and certify that it is equivalent to a US HS diploma. After honorably serving in the US Army, I was approved for the Post 9-11 GI Bill and am also eligible for the Yellow Ribbon program. With that being said, WHY am I reaching roadblocks every direction I take when trying to further my education in seeking an AS degree? My DD214 and ERB both list that I have a HS diploma or equivalent, I have provided copies of my certified translations and a copy of my German HS diploma to the learning institution I am currently trying to sign up with to begin classes and was asked to either take the GED (costly and unnecessary), or get my documents verified AGAIN thru an agency that charges a small fortune to do nothing but give me the run around AFTER charging my account for their services. This agency was recommended by the learning institute I am attempting to further my education thru..... Has anyone else had to deal with a situation like this?

Not sure if you are close to a military base but they could help you I am sure, also I bet if you tried one of the military friendly universities (Univ of Phx, etc.) they woul dhelp as well.

I hope this may help.

Oh I see SPC Nicole Jensen I see you are in San Antonio and I know there are several Ed Centers there that should be able to Help!!!

Good Luck!
