I just got to the AOR and found out that I’ll be eligible for early promotion in March. I know it seems far fetched, but how difficult would it be to get someone who holds public office or a celebrity to come the area. I think if I was able to accomplish this I’d really be able to stand out amongst my peers.

Are you wanting the person of public office or the person of fame there to witness your promotion...or to possibly pin you? The fact that you are eligible for early promotion is a basis that you are already standing out among your peers. Besides, you won't need to struggle to organize something like this. There are offices and people that do this all the time.

MAJ Byron Oyler - I completely agree, Sir. Just saying this young Airman shouldn't stress about trying to make this happen. That's what the Protocol Office is for.

Things like high profile visits should be coordinated through the PAO and the protocol office. Visiting dignitaries and celebrities often come with a logistics and security tail that need to be considered as someone has to escort them, provide transport, coordinate meet and greets and keep them busy and meaningfully engaged with troops for the duration of the visit.

Some things that you can do that show leadership and have an impact at the level that effect you :
- Volunteer to be the unit coordinator for the CFC drive, that is tracked and reported through all levels, the unit has to do it and you will get to meet the folks in your command that actually effect early promotions, and the admin and logistics tail are already in place and goes on even while deployed.
- Attend and compete in the Airman of month and quarter board program.
- Volunteer for unit level special teams like the NBC Recon or Decon teams or the hazmat response team.
Not as glamorous as getting Aerosmith, Seal or Bare Necked Ladies to visit but important tasks.

Not sure how you getting a celebrity or a politician to show face in a forward area will help with your Below the Zone promotion.

I figure all the other A1C’s are focusing on the same things, school and leading volunteer work. However, I don’t see my peers trying to do large things for an entire base. I know that doing things for your squadron and local community are huge things but I mean come on, as a 19 year old I think being able to say I got a pretty notable person to come to my base at a time where there’s no large holidays would be pretty impressive.
