When I was in the Air Force and especially during my early days in maintenance we had inspections but we also had 'shake downs'.    They would turn off the water and then search for contraband.

When I was in FMS an airman had a gun in his freezer in his refrigerator.   Karma paid another visit to him when he was dropping the N bomb on some of my friends.   Only my friendship with my friends saved his butt.  They always had my back,  and they worked in Avionics.

I never did drugs or anything like that but the inspections still were unnerving but I get their purpose and support that happening.

Yes, they still go on. But we call them 'health and welfare' inspections.
