I might (will probably) be having several foot surgeries done later this year in Ohio, most likely at the Cleveland, Ohio VA hospital. I just wondered what anyone had heard regarding the reputation of the hospital, doctors, treatment, and care provided by the Cleveland hospital. My "home" hospital in Boise has a pretty good reputation, but for various reason I will not be back in that area to have the surgeries done there. SO I need info on the Cleveland hospital and doctors. Any information would help. Thanks.

Several of the Soldiers in my company work there. I’d trust them with my care over a lot of civilian providers. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery.

I’m a little biased because I work for the Cleveland VA, but it’s the third largest VA medical center in the county and it has received the highest ratings on internal VA quality measures.

Well, I appreciate the input. I have had contact with people who knew about the Boise VA while I lived in Idaho, so I was able to get info on that facility. But I don't know anyone other than my Dad who has been to the Cleveland VA, so I didn't have any easy way to get info about their reputation. Thanks.

I've had foot and ankle surgeries performed by the podiatry dept at the CLE VAMC. The staff are awesome. I love my docs. Thank you Army for lovely foot issues, so I'm a frequent flyer there. Most recent was last May, my dog tripped me up (can't blame Army this time), causing me to fly through the air, breaking my ankle. Surgery necessary for plate and screws. Surgeon was awesome. Took great care of me. Anesthesia staff make the procedure painless. I had general, but was concerned about post surgical pain, so asked for a nerve block. They gave me something so I didn't feel/ remember the normally painful procedure. Follow up care was outstanding. Prosthetics gave me a leg scooter so I didn't need to rely on crutches. Post surgery PT staff amazing too. They really focus on your goals. The CLE VAMC staff have always been there for their patients.
