I had an interesting idea and I think Rally Point would be a great vector for it. MANY Soldiers go on leave and pass all the time, especially during holidays. Lots of Soldiers drive but also lots of Soldier get stuck home because they can't afford the travel and don't have a car.
My vision is a section that says hey I'm SGT Highroller and I'm driving from Fort Hood to Fort Stewart during Christmas break. Then SPC Needsaride can say I'm at Polk but also need to get to Stewart or Atlanta, etc. If you pick me up I can help with gas and split driving with you.

It's the same thing we do in our own units just on a larger scale. I think it will help Soldiers financially and also lower risk that we all have taken trying to drive 1500 miles over a 4 day weekend.

I think it can be designed along the lines of the Ushipit website from the show Shipping Wars.

What do you guys think?

SSG Robert Burns Sounds like a winner to me Master Yoda. When I lived in Yelm, WA we all tried finding each other for that 1hr plus ride in. If RallyPoint was around then it would have been awesome. Embrace our inner hippy! Well done.

SSG Burns,

I think this would be a great concept that could be very beneficial not only for AD SMs, but all veterans as well. For example you have a job fair or veterans conference in DC, and you have a vet in FL heading to it and another in NC that is planning to attend, they could both hook up along the way and share as you mentioned.

The concept is very plausible with the necessary tweaks and safety concerns to be worked out and it could utilize the same aspect of the previously mentioned already functioning sites, just more tailored to the needs of personnel traveling greater distance than just a short work type commute.

Good thought and start up potential.
