Is there anything I should know that I wouldn’t find out until I started this job? I’d like to be prepared before I move forward with this career flip flop.
What are the typical duty stations?
Is AIT difficult?
What attributes of myself should I focus on to succeed?
Are bonus’s usually high?

Take your DLAB (language test) and go to Defense Language Institute (DLI). Sets you up for more success if you choose to get out. If you're airborne, you may get lucky and get assigned to an SF Group. There are certain courses in our MOS that opens to the door for you to be assigned G2 shops at Corps level and higher. If you know how to keep a conversation going, then you'll be alright. Getting the mechanics down of how to run a source meeting/interrogation is nerve-racking at first, but after enough practice you'll get the hang of it. My bonus wasn't that high when I came in and I really don't hear a lot about them now, so don't worry about it. Just know if you choose to be a mike, you're going to have fun doing this job. If you have any other questions, just message me.

Mikes can be stationed anywhere. Ait is easy. (Then again, it’s relative. “Difficult” is like “pain”. It’s defined differently by everyone). The successful mikes I worked with were self reliant bird dogs. And I never saw the bonus scale to be particularly high.

Additionally, why 35m? Simply to reclass? Because it sounds cool? What would your goals be getting into the IC? A better focus of goals might help your research and understanding of the 35series MOSs and what’s available.

Best of luck.

While deployed I talked to a bunch of 35M and became quite interested in the job.

I know this is an old post, but did you end up reclassing and if so do you enjoy it? I am considering the same MOS for a possible reclass in a year.
