Got a school date for April, and just trying to find out what to expect, i.e...curriculum, living quarters, class plan. Everyone I've talked haven't gone recently within the last year or so, so they couldn't shine any light on it for me. Thanks!

Small Group Leader for the 94 CMF ALC at Fort Lee here. Let me give you the run-down:
You will be housed in Fort Lee lodging at the expense of the Army. That is, unless lodging schedules your class to live off post. You will then receive a voucher for a specific hotel (cost of the Army). They will try to keep your class in the same off-post hotel. We have no control over that and you won't know until you report.
You will require full per diem for sustenance as you will not receive a meal card. I highly suggest having S4 get you a government travel card and use it for your stay.
Your course is approximately 18-22 students for 8 weeks. You will have one to two weeks of Ordnance common core alongside with Blackboard distance learning followed by five to six weeks of tech side training for light, medium, heavy, and recovery. There is a new week-long module on GCSS-A that takes the place of the field exervise and it's pretty awesome.

Thank you for response, and I do have some questions, if you don't mind. With the course changing so drastically over the years, what tips or suggestions would you have into how to achieve the highest success within the class, i.e...commandants list, DHG....? Also you mentioned a GCSS-A in place of going to the field; what is that, I've never heard that acronym before? Lastly, you also mentioned a 1-2 common core, is that the online portion I completed prior to my attendance, or will I be completing another part? I believe my class is from mid April through the beginning of June. Thanks again for your response!

There is a DL common core that is supposed to be completed prior to attendance and is usually completed NLT the first week. Then there is also a classroom common core portion that takes place during the first one to two weeks.
Everything after that is hands-on tech side training on the 30 level maintenance tasks for the 91B with GO/NOGO practical exercises to evaluate competence.

GCSS-A is the Global Combat Support System - Army. It is going to replace SAMS for maintenance, PBUSE for property books, SARRS for the SSA, and finance modules amongst other things. It is a whole system approach to logistics that addresses a number of shortfalls: inability to see parts in the system before they get to the SSA, not being able to track each serial numbered end item to its actual owner when "found on installation," bad man hour accounting, having to in-process for your military license each time you change units, tracking actual cost as compared to actual authorized budget, etc. It is the bee's knees and some other things; I am in love with it.

In regards to honors: There is limited opportunity to distinguish yourself academically beyond getting 100% on the DL test. Focus on being 10 minutes prior everywhere, having full accountability of all paperwork and property, doing great stuff in your student leadership position (such as trying out and earning student first sergeant), getting a great APFT score, and otherwise being outstanding. If you don't already know it by heart, dig into FM 7-22 and study PRT. Specifically, chapters 6 through 10.
The key is really the Whole Soldier Concept. Most people self-select by being late to formation/class, being disrespectful to cadre and/or peers, failing initial H&W and/or APFT, or failing the AC 609 test.
Would you mind if I talked to one of my 91B counterparts to see who is picking up your class? They'll send out a welcome packet e-mail about 30 days prior to course start and that NCO will be your POC for all course specific questions.

No I wouldn't mind one bit, in fact I'd really appreciate it. I know achieving honors is an outstanding way to distguinish yourself from your peers for future selections, so I'm all about trying to get a leg up. Thanks

I graduated as distinguished leadership award winner when I was there last May. It takes you going above and beyond consistently. .putting yourself out there and being available to assist with your peers at all times. You will review we a nice ordnance corps association certificate of award. It's a super easy course and if you apply yourself you can definitely earn honors. Good luck!

In regards to attaining DHG, etc. Inform your student chain of command where you're at, and if you need to see sick call in advance. This will give them time to inform the SGLs so you not being at PRT will not hurt your standings in the class. I had this happen thanks to my student CoC not sending the message up (saying they would). It hurt my chance to get DHG but I appealed it and at least got some recognition (not DHG mind you). Also, conduct the EPA 609 certification course on E-Ordnance U. This came into play when figuring in your end of course GPA so getting 100% on it will ensure your success so long as you keep your nose clean and get first-time goes on the tech-phase end of module exams.

Never really got clarification on that, though I can ask a few instructors I know there on the tech side and see if they can let me know--I will get back with you on this one once I get an answer.

Response from my contact: Just do the 609 when you get to resident training. Nine out of ten times they'll make you retake it anyway so it's best not to waste the time to do it before getting to Ft. Lee.

Do you know how to get a poc for alc? I'm wishin my 30 day window, I have not recieved an email. I have a few questions I would like to be answered, as well as some concerns sense I just pcs'd overseas. Thank you in advance
