Why is the Middle East so angry at Israel and how is ISIS trying to draw its borders? It all comes down to a English Army Officer named T.E. Lawrence and WWI. This is the root of the current Middle Eastern conflict.

I had not heard of the Sykes-Picot agreement, but it all boils down to who has a legitimate claim to the territory of present-day Israel. That agreement gave it to the Arabs, but the 1948 arrangement gave the territory to the Jews. I doubt this disagreement will ever end, since both sides think the territory belongs to them.

Sykes-Picot was a genius way to divide the Ottoman Empire and open trade routes. New borders were created. It was the last time there was a caliphate before ISIL/ISIS came along.
