If a National Gaurd Soldier is on title 10 can they be promoted by the active duty component?

Not that this applies in this case but the E-2 and E-3 promotions are still auto like the federal system and can be done with little involvement of the state.

Cannot say for Guard but when they called 80 of us up from the reserves and assigned us to active duty units, our promotions still came from our reserve command that we fell under.

SPC (Join to see) - On Title 10 orders you are just activated you are still in the National Guard. Last year i was on title 10 orders but i still had to go through the Reserve side for my SFC promotion. But AR 600-8-19 pretty much states the state will hold boards for national guard soldiers and title 10 AGR national guard. AGR soldiers fall under a totally different title 10 section also so don't get confused with a regular mobilization under title 10 and agr title 10

SFC(P) (Join to see) - Section 7-34 pretty much sums up the centralized and decentralized promotion boards for NG even title 10 agr NG. It would look like the LTC in your COC would have the authority to promote you to SGT through a board.
