Army Achievement Medal (AAM) for a Call Of Duty Tournament?

I recently read a post on another site that a soldier was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for winning a Call to Duty (that's a video game for those who don't play) tournament. It could have been a hoax, but I think it was real. I'm not picking on the soldier who received the AAM, but is something really worth awarding it for? Or am I just too old to "get it"?

Wow, I guess it depends on the context. If it was a tournament that used military tactics, strategy, and required technical and tactical knowledge then i understand that, especially if there were quite a few people in the tournament and it was competitive enough.
When I was at Armor Officer Basic Course, they had a game that you could compete in using tank tactics (this was in 2004, so the graphics not that great). But I think they got certificates for winning. Anyway I see that the army has to be on cutting edge of technology, and this is one way to do it.
The Call of Duty series is fantastic from what I have seen. I don't play at all, but read about how they used military consultants to make it as real as possible. I also read that the creators won't put something in unless militarily the technology is feasible.

I used to be an avid gamer. I played about 3 hours a day most days a week. I even had a clan, but then I had a kid and I haven't touched an xbox in 7 years. But it doesn't apply so much. It reminds me of that movie "ride along." I just don't see how this reflects well on the the soldier, their unit, or the Army. So should they just give out medals for any sport? Should the all you can eat champion at pizza hut get an AAM. I am just thinking that the Top Tank and Bradly crews in my battalion got AAMs. I don't see this even being on the same plane to be honest.

I have seen people doing corrective training get AAM's. Its not to hard to believe this. Isn't UAV people in the same boat as Call of Duty gamers? Just saying lol.
