Dreams
by Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

I always wanted to be a professional athlete, but hey I was not born with ice skates, etc. so not like that would have happened anyway. But hey a dream is a dream for a reason.

this one sort of brings a tear to my eye and answered like many probably will, my life. But my dreams for my whole life was thrown away. (But I do not mean at all for a bad cause because my country is always a good cause) My whole life has been doctoring on and off jobs and trying to raise two children with problems too. But for many years I did not no my dreams would end over toxins and be such a ride that is un-explainable. But I did acquire strength, determination, a brother/sister family that is a bond. The strength and determination is what has kept me walking for many years. When my foot had been cut off like that they said I would never walk again it is painful but the determination and strength got me out of that wheel chair. It also sees me threw some of the rashes I break out from with the toxins at times feels like bugs eating me or acid pouring on my skin. No man wants me now either. It is hard but I still hear the Drill Sargent yelling soldier up and that is what I try to do as best I can now so my dream now is to live and get threw the bad days with what I have learned.

PV2 Violet Case,
I know somethings are unforeseen, yet most often what we ask for in life is what we get. I know you did not ask for this. I do encourage you to ask more out of life then to merely get through the bad days. It is your will power "and determination and strength that got you out of that wheel chair.

Thank you very much for the support, I do want more from life then just making it threw the bad days. I just have a hard time to get help here like a handyman type care giver when needed. I like to do things but can only do them a short while and get to where I can barely move after a few hours of doing things and need some assistance home again. Like this year would have loved to see my ice fish house out on the lake to go ice fishing for a bit no one to help me with it. Like I am a burden to others so I just stay home most of the the time. But of course if I offer to pay to take someone to a fancy diner they go. lol....Money is what most people think of today. Back when I was healthier I helped people all the time and would never allow payment. Times are changing. I just cant do apartment life either tried it need my peace and quiet. I am hoping to feel good enough to make it to the next American Legion meeting. Havent been in a couple of months. But I no if my pain is really bad on a day I no better then to go anywhere. thanks a lot.

As service is voluntary these days, why should anyone throw away a dream in order to serve?

Good question, but it's a crap shoot sometime, most even volunteer but still have other things to do but they set them aside for the Duty,Honor, and Country... Never to get back to them, for one reason or another...
