Is the Officer corps returning to the emphasis of alternating assignments?

Talking with my Field Artillery peer group, the majority of them who served with me at Fort Campbell are being assigned to heavy/stryker units. I know that this had been the unspoken rule, before the recent wars created a demand for Officers to be prioritized for any deploying unit. Officers: is this happening in your branch as well? What do you think about it? NCOs: What are the friction points that you have seen when you recieve a leader who came from light to heavy, or vice versa?
