Ive been in the army for 3 years now and all was well, day one of getting to my new duty station I was moving some desks for the 1SG and after a while my hand went numb. Followed up on the issue and was determined i have ulner nerve damage, i now have an appointment with Nero to determine whats going on. My hand hand been numb for 6 weeks now lost 50% of my grip strength and cant use my hand in the cold or do anyrhing i used to do. Is there a way for me to ask for med board because of this, is this a valid reason and if they offer surgery and i take it could i still get med?

You’re already asking about MEB and disability percentages and you haven’t done a day of physical therapy yet. Try to fix the issue, before you have it end your career. Your questions should be focused oh rehabilitation and not disability. You’ll know when it gets to that point and if you’re wanting a career in the Army, at least try to fix it first. I’ll be honest and tell you that if you’re asking for a MEB and wondering what procedures will give you a better percentage over the other, it already looks bad.

1. You can't ask for MEB. 2 After Nero appt, the Doctors will decide where to go from there- surgery, MEB, etc. MEB means that you are essential useless to the Service

SPC (Join to see) - I certainly get it. But understand, 6 weeks isn’t quite permanent. Before any talk of a medboard, they’ll likely exhaust treatments to see if they can fix it.
Having been through the process, just give it time. But it’s like a kid asking for dessert. Once you start asking, the Army won’t recommend one, almost out of a battle of wills.

SGT (Join to see) would you happen to know if at some point i get offered meb will i get the same percentage if i get surgery or will it be diffrent if you dont get surgery.

I started having neurological symptoms while language training in Presidio: San Francisco after a serious injury in Basic. The symptoms were mostly minor at first and they were not constant. 19 is young for MS. I ended up being bedfast for three years. Try fussing with the VA when you can't brush your own teeth.
The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) helped me and my family with the claims issues. You may wake up one morning with half your body refusing to do anything at all. I hope it's not like the situation I faced. Just cover the bases. You may need more medical care than you think.
