1. I would assume you are paid the regular guard amount as you would for any drill weekend, but I wanted to verify? I know with many other forms of military training, you would be paid the active duty amount, but I wasn't sure if this would be the case under the circumstance mentioned above.

2. Once you graduate OCS and have selected your branch, what has been the general wait time you have experienced before attending the training for said branch.

Thanks in advance.

Army OCS Candidates get paid as E-5's. If you attend Army National Guard OCS, you get paid as an E-6, whether you attend one of the accelerated courses or the normal 14-16 months combination of Drill and AT periods.
Now it has been a long time since I commissioned, but I commissioned in July and started my Basic Course in November. At that time, that was about as quick as they could get you a slot, Active or National Guard. No Army Reserve in my class since I was Infantry.

Cpl Joseph Fields - Oregon sent OC's to Alabama for fast track OCS too. The SME for the entire Army Guard OCS program is located there too. I would highly suggest you show up in absolutely your best shape of your life should you attend Phase 1 there. The Alabama heat won't give you a break and neither will the TAC's.

Cpl Joseph Fields My son was born in August and I reported in November. Since I was not in route, I moved the family down at my expense. I don't regret it. Aside from exposing your wife to military life, Ft Benning had a very active Officer's Wives organization to help them adjust to the lifestyle. Mine was able to do alot of the extra running and was a real help.

Cpl Joseph Fields The family will work for or against you. Get the family in the decision-making process and let them see that it's going to help you both. When my OCS class first had its symposium, we had a hundred and ten people show up for . We had 80 people show up after the symposium at the beginning of OCS and due to attrition, mostly due to family and work problems, we had 40 graduates. Even after the commissioning, I knew of one first lieutenant, a very good officer with a lot of potential, who was separated after 7 years because he did not finish his bachelor's degree. If you have your college degree out of the way, you are set ! otherwise, you are dealing with not only trying to finish your degree and possibly work, you're trying to do basic officer leadership course at the same time and something has got to give.

LTC (Join to see) - Sir, I've been doing my best to keep my wife in the loop since she isn't familiar with the military lifestyle, but she still has her hesitations. However, I believe she is starting to see the many benefits of military service and how it will help our family in the long run. I do have my bachelors degree currently and soon, I would like to begin my masters, but this is on hold until I can complete OCS and then BOLC. Thank you for your insight. I do believe that once I have my knee 90% or better, that I will be able to complete OCS. I am at least trying to keep this mindset.

Thank you for the clarification. From researching that more, I was better able to see how the full process breaks down further.
