Can a unit administer a record APFT to an officer who has not been to BOLC who has been drilling with the unit for 90+ days?

Thank you everyone for your responses. I am the APFT OIC of our unit and I have not found anything in the regs pertaining to Record APFTs and pre-BOLC AMEDD Officers. I have DTMS access and enter in all our record/diagnostic APFTs and Ht/WT. I am asking in relation to whether we can start separation paperwork if they fail 2 record APFTs, granted we are allowed to give them a Record APFT vs diagnostic. Quite frankly, I'm a little surprised that we have CPTs who have yet to attend BOLC.

MAJ (Join to see) agree with LTC (Join to see). AR350-1 Appendix F. The Commander may administer the APFT as often as they wish. The soldiers needs to be told whether it is record or diagnostic before they start.

MAJ (Join to see) as long as that officer belongs to your unit, you should be able to administer a PT test. If they fail, they can be held from going to BOLC. We had an LT at our BDE that was held up from going to BOLC because he could pass a PT Test. So, from what I understand, yes you can.

I found no reference prohibiting administering a record APFT prior to Reserve Component AMEDD officer prior to attendance at BOLC-RC. In fact, the information available is that those officers are required to have a record APFT within 6 months of arrival at BOLC-RC (or they will be administered one upon arrival). References follow (AR 350-1 omitted since it has already been provided):

All student attending BOLC-B (RC) Phase 2 are required to have a passing Army Physical Fitness Test score and passing Army Height and Weight prior to enrollment in the resident course.
Students may hand-carry their DA Form 705 (Army Physical Fitness Test Scorecard) if they have been administered one by their unit. The DA Form 705 must show a passing score and indicate the student is in compliance with the Army’s height and weight standards IAW AR 600-9.
If the student requires a tape test, the DA Form 5500 (males) or the DA Form 5501 (female) must also be included with the DA Form 705. The DA Form 705 must be current (within the past six months).
If a student does not have a current DA Form 705, they will be administered both the APFT and height/weight screening. If they fail to meet Army standards for APFT or height/weight, they will not be enrolled and returned to home station.
**TRADOC 350-6, 5-5 c. (3) BOLC-B. In accordance with HQDA directives and regulations.
(b) Students must pass a record APFT prior to graduation in accordance with AR 350-1. Any student attending BOLC-B for less than 30 days (Army Medical Command) and will not be taking an APFT for record, must hand carry their Department of the Army (DA) Form 705 with a score within 6 months of attending BOLC-B. .....Any USAR or ARNG student who does not have a passing record APFT score prior to graduation; will be processed from the course and returned to their parent unit.

All Officers in the BOLC‐RC Course (3.5 weeks) may submit a DA Form 705 that shows a passing APFT AND Body Composition within 6 mos of their BOLC report date; otherwise an APFT and/or Body

Thats for BOLC-RC for providers , For non providers you go through the full active duty course which will no matter what, get a APFT administered.
The conundrum is differentiating between BOLC-RC for providers and those of us that are RC but not providers that have to attend the 9 week course.
This was up until recently that SM Pre-bolc their record APFT did not count as a record until the SM went to BOLC. I really want to get that SOP , I'll contact my old unit to see if they can dig it up.

I think it's up to the Unit Commander what happens to the Officer. Most unit SOPs require passing APFTs no longer than 60 days before the school starts. No passing APFT they should not be allowed to go to school. We have cancelled people from PME that couldn't pass the APFT.
It's better that they don't go, than to show up to school and fail. That reflects badly on the Command and the Soldier.
