Since the Jordanian Pilot has been burned alive the only thin ISIS hasn't done yet is murder a western woman.
The 26-year-old humanitarian relief worker that has been held for over a year. ISIS has done almost everything except murdering a western woman. As others have said the beheading of hostages is starting to fizzle out or loss its shock and ah factors. This is why the pilot was burned.

Somehow, SSG Timothy McCoy, I think we need to "step up" our response to ISIS and the brutal murders they're carrying out. That's independent of whether they kill the American woman they're holding. They've done enough (more than enough) to deserve the wrath of all civilized nations on earth.

I'm hoping there's a strategy and a plan to implement the strategy behind the scenes. I'm hoping it's secret, that we (the public) can't know about it yet, and that we will - maybe with coalition partners - absolutely bring the hammer down on ISIS.

Chief,
I am in total agreement with you.
I hope you are so right that when the plan/s come to light and fruition, that I am shocked and awhed till my socks off. ( it wouldn't PC to agree with blowing the Hail into a arid dry land)

Scott, I think you are holding out hope against experience on any sort of strategy being worked on dealing with ISIS. The approach is to do as little as possible so the president can say he is working to dismantle ISIS but to actually not do enough to eliminate the threat.

If you think about all of the coalition parters as a tool kit, there is only one hammer and that is us. The remainder are scre drivers, wrenches, files and the like. If

War is nothing more than Politics through Force.

Remember that.

The US will only win a war if the American People back it (not that anyone ever really 'wins' a war). We need the full force of America to do that. We can't have half measures. We have to have full commitment.

The murder of a single American woman in a foreign land would be a tragedy.

But, I don't think it would be the "ignition point" needed to start a full scale War. It's just not, I hate using this word, impressive enough.

Our last war was started with the destruction of the World Trade Center, and the the Pentagon. The largest attack on American Soil since Pearl Harbor. That's the level of influence that is needed to sway public opinion.

I'm not saying that is right, just laying out the facts as I see them.

I think ISIS is a threat to Global Stability, however War, and extended Authorizations for the Use of Military Force outside the US are Powers that rest with Congress. This means that public opinion matters.

Exactly so. MAJ Ron Peery Exactly so.

Our issue now is that, the American People are just too apathetic to it (or more accurately don't understand it). It doesn't matter to "us." The concept of Global Stability doesn't make sense for them.

We signed a treaty with the Ukraine, Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS... That didn't work out to well for them. That's gotta make a lot of governments across the pond and in the ME take a knee and reconsider...

The issue with the Budapest Memorandum was that Clinton/Bush Admins didn't include verbiage that "guaranteed" assistance. It was very vague in what it did offer. All talk no game.

Assuming she is still alive, she has probably already been raped multiple times. Our response to the murders already committed should have been to declare war on ISIS months ago. We should start by destroying Raqaa, the de facto capitol of IS. Leave no charred stones standing. Leave no one alive. Don't worry about collateral damage. The innocents have long since been driven out or murdered. Concurrently, we should deploy an overwhelming force, on the ground, with orders to hunt down and kill every member of ISIS they can find. Americans fighting for ISIS should be singled out for destruction. They will only be a danger to the rest of us if allowed to return to the States. We should operate against ISIS in both Iraq and Syria. If Assad does not lilke our troops on his ground, and attacks them, we should declare war on him, too. It is beyond time to clear out this nest of vipers. Time to quit being politically correct, and who the world why you don't mess with America.

Sure, CPT Lindsey, I was a captain once. ) And the name Perry is an honorable one, but my family name is PEERY. Though one of my ancestors spelled his name "Perry" at one time, as well as 5 or 6 other ways, Perry and Peery are not the same. I am not related to the Commodore of honored memory. Rather, I am distantly related to the guy who ran Harland and Wolf shipyard when the Titanic was built. Hence joining the Army, rather than the Navy.

Don't worry about it, CPT Lindsey. Even when I was wearing my name on my uniform everyday, people still got it wrong.
