I am a veteran considering a career move and saw multiple openings at Amazon for Operations Managers. Anyone have experience in or with this role they care to share? How does it compare to military service (work/life balance, benefits, empowerment)? I know I want to get a chance to lead people, but is it worth it in this role (I’ve seen a lot of troubling reviews of fulfillment centers)?

Amazon fulfillment right up the road from where I used to work and a Call Center in the town where I live. The fulfillment is an extremely fast paced job and although the pay is fair for the area, has a lot of personnel turnover because of the demands. The call centers volume is sporadic, of course Christmas season being the highest volume. My wife worked there seasonal one year, not a lot negative to say about the job other than the job being a pain in the butt. The local one was one of the call centers for Amazon's Fire Tablets, which I could see becoming a pain in the butt.

You work 4 days and are off 3 days. I'm currently hr. Your 10 hours shifts are busy every single minute. But it's not hard and the pay is good. And benefits are really good too.
