So I know gun laws in New York are super strict, and on top of that you have For Drum’s extra laws, but I was wondering if anyone could answer this for me.

I live on post in Fort Drum and I would like to buy a non firing replica M1 rifle as a display piece. I would like to mention, it never has been and never could be a real functioning firearm or even capable of shooting a BB. Would I be able to purchase this item legally and keep it in my house on post? I looked into it and a real M1 is exempt from the NY SAFE act, but the Army being the Army, I figured it’s a good idea to get a second opinion first. Any help?

It isn't a firearm. So, unless you take it off the wall and brandish it, especially if law enforcement were present, it's not unlawful or unauthorized. Note: check local policy by reading local policy documents, or contacting the PMO. If PMO says it's not authorized, I'd ask for the reference.
