By far the best one for me was getting sent to Las Vegas to do some training with Las Vegas Metro PD. I was able to stay just off the strip in a casino hotel. That was my first and only time in Vegas and other than really sick a week into it, I still think it tops the list of cool places I have been sent TDY.

I think the best one for me was going from SOC Hurlburt FLD. FL to Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia to train with joint operations.
To give a little background, I was a FLIR Tech for HH53 Pave Low, we had a fairly new system that never seemed to break, so, once they were ops checked they were gtg. Most of our time was spent playing cards, and, to me, that was quite boring. On this particular TDY, I started helping the crew chiefs with their duties. At first, they were a little leery, but, I showed them I was serious about helping them. I got to learn more about that air frame and gained their respect throughout the deployment. I also got to see the hard work they did to keep those aircraft safe for the pilots and the troops that depend on them.
The best thing about it though was not having the hours of boredom that had plagued me before. I was honored that they requested me to fly back to home base with them on the H53 instead of flying back on a C130.
