Parents, do you think your kids should have a potty break limit at school?

Bossier Schools' Rusheon Middle School (my 13 year old's school) has the same policy.
From the student handbook:
RESTROOM NECESSITIES (STAR)
Restrooms are located in each academic wing for personal needs during class change. A separate procedure is used for those students having a need to visit the restroom during instructional time:
Inform the classroom teacher of the need to visit the restroom.
The classroom teacher will issue the hall pass to the student with departure time.
The student will report to the Office where a log book is signed indicating use of restroom. Student needing to be out of class for restroom use will be carefully monitored for occurrences.
Students with Health Plans specifying frequent restroom breaks on file with the School Nurse are exempted from abuse and associated consequences.
Parents are notified on 3rd visit with a letter indicating frequent restroom use.
Consequences are listed under each occurrence. On the 4th visit consequences will begin to make-up lost classroom/academic time with lunch detention with the teacher. Students will use the restroom facilities in the 8th grade wing and report back to class promptly.
The restrooms in all other areas are locked during the instructional class period and unlocked and monitored by the custodial staff during class change.

My grandson is first grade. He comes back from recess and tells his teacher he needs to go to the bathroom. She says, no, you should have gone during recess. He NEEDS to go, but he is trying to be a good obedient kid. So, he ends up pooping in his pants. He was embarrassed, demoralized, crying, and, well, pooped on. My daughter was furious. I said, you go get 'em girl. She let the teacher have it. She scheduled a meeting with the principal and let the principal have it. I would have gone if she didn't. If I child says, I gotta go, then let them go.

I think it was 5th grade when a girl said she had to go to the bathroom. The teacher said you can wait. The girl ended up peeing in her dress and was visibly embarrassed.

Really! Seriously! Um, (speechless). If you gotta go, you gotta go. Frequency, over frequency, abuse can be managed on a case by case basis, which I am sure our professional teacher corps can manage just fine.

How is this even an issue? Teachers need to handle it on a case by case basis. No one can say how much any of us need to use the bathroom on a daily basis.
