I know the career path i want to take, but not the direction per say. This is not the sole determining factor, but it is important to me.

You can't compare apples to oranges. Rangers are a direct action force. They go somewhere, seek and destroy people and things. Special Forces (Green Berets) have a Foreign Internal Defense (FID) mission. They go somewhere, train and equip the local people to fight for themselves. They each have a very distinct and very different mission.

Ranger's are the OL when you are on the goal line and need a TD they will get you in.. SF is the QB that got you there in the FP. if your looking for a challange then go Ranger if you are looking for a career go SF..

no worries The first line is a half attempt to quote CPT. Steele from Black Hawk Down, the second half. is what I have learned working with both groups. Both are amazing one is just a different in how the prepare and what they really do.

CW3 (Join to see) CPT Steele got himself into some trouble as LTC Steele...

Kinda funny to me how people went out of their way to establish that his movie character was not his real character and then as BC he seemingly became his movie character

CW3 (Join to see) ah, I misremembered some details, he was a COL commanding a brigade at the time. Apologies.

No clue about that. thing is those guys where hosed from the start. with the ROE and the whole mission. it sucks if he left the Army on bad note, but i dont blame him living through something like that is hard and then the Army changes to a differnt Army over time it can be hard to change with it. I almost retired becuase of it and was talked out of it by a CW5.

I'll make this simple, they're both gone a lot and each does its' thing.
