I am scheduled to report to Amedd DCC in June, then directly to BOLC in July. I’m wondering if I should drive my truck or just fly in? If I drive , it’s 2 days, and we’ll it’s a truck, not great on gas. From what so understand I won’t really need my private vehicle for DCC, but could perhaps for BOLC. I also don’t want to have to rely on hitching rides. What do most people do??

I’m driving my truck to BOLC. You’ll get a certain amount per mile you drive (I can’t remember the exact amount, it’s been a few years ) to offset the fuel cost after the fact.

I was thinking of driving too, but wasn’t sure how much I would actually be USING my vehicle. Also I’m coming from Florida to OK, then to TX, back to Fl, then off to NC!

Did the travel information help you paint the picture? One day I drove 600 miles. That was stupid.

If you are going to Ft Bliss, it is relatively spread out. I'd do it as long as it is not specifically prohibited. You'll get mileage. Being mobile has a value all its own.

You won’t need your vehicle at DCC. You won’t be allowed to even go to it. During the last week of DCC they will take all drivers over and inspect vehicles and fix any issues to pass inspections. When you’re released from DCC you will be authorized to drive to BOLC. You cannot drive it in 1 day from sill to fort Sam (physically yes you can but per army regs it’s just over the max amount of miles you are authorized to safely drive in 1 day) so you’ll get to drive and stop half way or so and stay all night then drive the rest of the way to fort Sam.
Now as for needing your vehicle at fort Sam, yes I think you might see some benefit there if you’re going for the long course and not the reserves/guard short course.
From what you are saying it sounds like you’re doing DCC then a couple days later reporting to BOLC for the long course, then reporting to your first duty station at Bragg.
So yes I would probably just drive since you’ll be at the long BOLC course.
