I’m tracking that the FST I’m going to is only has a platoon element of mikes vs a while company like the CTC I’m in. What’s a typical week like in a district platoon? Fast paced/ Medium paced? Commradery any better?

I was in a distro platoon from 2012 to 2016 in Fort Stewart (2-7 Infantry, Fox Co). It was the worst experience I ever had in the Army. It was only tolerable when I was deployed AWAY from that platoon and attached to smaller sections in Afghanistan, Poland, and Spain.

The turnover rate was 88%. Which means 88% chance this was where your career ended. We had soldiers RCP, chaptered out for cocaine, weed, multipe DUIs, AWOL, etc etc. We had soldiers and NCOs that were physically fit when they arrived but 3 months later they are trying to find ways to get med boarded.

In garrison we had to provided constant support for gunnery ranges, field ops, etc. It wasn't a fast or medium pace. It was just a constant GRIND that just never ended. And if you are SINGLE you're going to be the first to stand overnight ammo watch for every field op.

The distro platoon always works harder and longer in those units. Some personnel just couldn't take it and found a way out.
