Will Airborne school & RASP adopt the new ACFT? If so when?

RASP will do whatever they want to do. They have an RPFT and since it’s a selection for their own unit they can use the APFT if they want to. Airborne school hasn’t announced any changes and you can expect them to keep using the APFT as an entrance standard for a while. It would be extremely difficult for them to administer an ACFT to 300 students every single Monday.

PFC (Join to see) these are not tests of record. You can’t be flagged for failing an APFT at RASP or Airborne. Whatever entrance prerequisites a school or selection decide to mandate for entrance are at their own discretion. For instance, Air Assault requires a 12 mile ruck in 3 hours which is an hour faster than the Army standard. Ranger school requires a water survival test and swim test.

As far as airborne goes they are adopting a modified acft. (Currently however because of covid there is actually no pt test). Basically it’s going to be hand release pushups, leg tucks, and a 2 mile run. Then later of course the normal 5 mile. This could change or not happen at all. I also have friends who are currently at pre-rasp and have said that they are doing ‘experimental’ acft testing. Not sure what it entails but it’s looking like rasp MAY be going towards an acft. Not sure what the standards would be. Just sharing what I’ve heard on the good ole Private News Network
