I'm going to 89B ALC in about a month. Ill be half way through my second semester of my PhD program. Whats a day in alc like? Is it similar to other schools in the way that when you're done with class you're basically released to do your own thing? Do they leave you alone or are we doing hooah stuff until 2100? What are the requirements outside of doing the classwork?

I recently attended 89B SLC at Fort lee, and your experience may be different due to covid and the new guidelines that the academy pushes out.

But, during the first two weeks we were placed into “quarantine” inside the hotel and only allowed to leave for essential purposes. Class hours were 0900-1600 on Microsoft teams and we only went to the class room on test days. After the first two weeks, we did PT mon, wed, and fri. Once class was over for the day, the SGLs typically do not contact you.

My class only had 6 students, but majority of us were taking college classes during the course.

Good luck

I don't know what 89Bs do for ALC or where you go. My ALC and SLC was at Huachuca as intel. However, my SLC was different since I was there 2 years ago for the government shutdown. That was - interesting.

For ALC it was PT in the morning and students had to lead PT at some point. When I went to ALC they weren't doing the PT test there. You just had to take one before you go there. I think it was class 0900 - 1700. Lunch and breaks in there. Weekends off. Mine was about 8-9 weeks. I had paused my Master's when I went (in 2012) but I could have done college courses and my ALC stuff. But that's intel. I don't know how yours works.

I'm not an 89B, but ALC is an Army course. We did PT each morning. We had a report time, where we formed up and had an inspection.
Then class until lunch. Lunch was the Dfac.
Classes until about 1700. We did have a few days that went past 1700 but it was necessary for our course work. After 1700 back to our rooms to do whatever. There were certain limitations, IE no going past a certain distance, and no fraternization with instructors or basic/ait types.

There were some who got hammered each night, but I wouldn't recommend it. I relaxed, but still got some studying in as well.
