Received a summarized article 15 in basic (it was well deserved and I regret my action a lot) since then I have graduated OSUT and am looking forward to my first unit. How can I expect to be effected by my mistakes moving forward into the real Army. Any response is appreciated.

Your Article 15 will not follow you to your new unit at your rank. Article 15's stay in your local file for two years or until you PCS as long as you are E-4 or under. Look at it as an opportunity to pull you head out of your third point of contact and soldier on.
Administrative punishment is a tool to correct and salvage soldiers that have potential. No one in an 11B unit will care that you got a Summarized Article 15 in OSUT as long as you don't continue the behavior that got you that one.

CPT Lawrence Cable - Wouldn't the "career ender" be somewhat contingent upon what the charges were? Minor infractions shouldn't kill a persons career just because they screwed up one time!

Cpl Vic Burk Apparently the Air Force is super strict. I have been told that any Article 15 is a bar to re- enlist. I totally agree that it's shortsighted. 18 and 19 year olds, often the first time away from home, make mistakes. They need to be able to learn from them.

TSgt Joshua Duplin - There is still a huge difference. Your career in the Army will survive an Field Grade Article 15 as long as you are E-4 and below since it won't follow you when you PCS, or stay in your local file after 2 years. That doesn't seem to be true in the Air Force or the Marines. The Navy still tracks a Captain's Mast, but it doesn't seem to be a career killer. Rumor has it that you have to have a divorce, a drinking problem and a Captains Mast to make Chief in the Navy :^).

At least you accepted responsibility. The rest will depend on how hard you work. Make sure there's no "next time' and be a good soldier. Try to be the best soldier even. It will help.

Hopefully that's why you joined, to be your best at something, with help. Trained folks that have been doing it for years. If not, your wasting everybody's time. You will get out of anything what you put in. Be a model soldier, in mind and deed. People will notice. Once you set the example, you are on your way. Some will be better always, but you have to run your own race at your pace.

Just don't mess up anymore. I don't think it will affect you unless you do something wrong again in the future.
