So I enlisted into the navy going into the submarine field. I didn’t want to do it, even from the start; I just wanted to ship out.

Don’t be the guy who has buyers remorse after the fact and tanks a school on purpose. The Military is a small place. If you do anything less than your best it will follow you your entire career and you will be labeled.
Just because you start out on subs doesn’t mean you have to always be on subs. Just do your time and move on to something else afterwards.

I always heard that being in the silent service was strictly volunteer. If the boat life is
not for you that you can unvolunteer. Some find they're claustrophobic, for example.
