I am currently AGR with 18 months AGR and 3.5 years of reserve service and an E5. If I want to go regular Army, do I have to go in as my current MOS (MP) for 18 months or can I reclass right away? I know MP on active is over strength it I didn’t know since I am already on title 10 orders if it would be the same being AGR as a regular reservist. Thanks!

Why would you leave the AGR program?

It seems to be hindering my career sir. Lot of issues at HRC when trying to get promoted as well as career counselors that just send a newsletter whenever you ask them for anything. I would also like to commission and unfortunately from what I have heard, you can not do that unless you refrad and reapply.

Good reasons. I have never been AGR but I've been active duty, drilling guard and drilling reserve. Do you have a 4 year degree? If not or if you plan on getting a masters I would recommend leaving AGR back to TPU status and doing ROTC. OCS is the least preferred way to become an officer. It's normally more competitive and it may not be available when you want to go as the slots fill in the remainder of the Army's requirements after west point and ROTC. If the requirement goes down the will immediately cut OCS slots and it will take time before ROTCs mission is adjusted.

LTC (Join to see) To add to this Sir, SGT Matt could attempt the green to gold program if SGT Matt decides to go Active. Still it is competitive.

It is very rare to change your MOS when going to the Regular Army. The only way that I have heard it happening was when they MOS they had was over strength and they were given an option to choice from a list of under strength MOS. The Regular Army really can't cater to every unique situation unless there is a good reason.
