What are war-related movies and films that have been identified as 'anti-war' films by some groups? The Thin Red Line? Fat Man and Little Boy? All Quiet on the Western Front? Platoon even? What makes a movie about war be considered as 'anti-war?'

I would venture that ALL war related movies are anti-war.
If you follow the quote that "none despise war more than those who have fought one". All of the violence, cruelty, madness and waste portrayed in any accurate war movie has to trigger the desire to avoid it at all costs........but go for broke and win it when you have committed to it. This is a philosophy of many of our most successful combat commanders who are also deeply wounded by the cost of war.

Agreed, Cpl Dennis F..

Look at "Das Boot", "Pork Chop Hill", and "Hamburger Hill" -- all very much grounded in attempts to portray one small piece of war realistically, and all ending on a note of "What was all that for?"

Too me Paths of glory was a good anti war movie. it showed the inept leadership some face and scapegoat mentality that befalls juniors in the military
