I’ve been looking for an answer but I can’t seem to find a direct answer on this one. Can you wear a multi cam pattern (OCP) belt in the Army? I know da pam and ar 670-1 did said tan 499 but it didn’t specify if you can’t wear a multi cam one?

Current DA Pam 670-1 dated Jan 2021 Says coyote tan 499 boots, belt, and Shirt are authorized.

You may want to verify which color is which:
From para 4-1: "(1) Personal clothing items, such as the tan 499 (coyote) undershirt ,tan499 (coyote) riggerbelt ,and coyote combat boots, are authorized for wear with the following UCP OCIE items:"

Coyote tan 499 isn't "tan", it's brown. The foliage green t- shirt is also authorized in the DA PAM. The UCP ACU "tan" items were referred to as " Sand "

I did not see any allowance for another color or pattern. If the belt you refer to is actually OCP pattern, I would say based on above, the coyote tan 499 belt is the only one authorized unless the commander has published other guidance (like locally procured belts with unit buckles).

Scroll down to the combat uniforms...doesn't work right in Safari. You can see what color they are referring to.

It didn't specify if you couldn't wear an Orange one either.

It said what is allowed. Anything slightly outside of 670-1 would need a command policy to allow it, and that reach would only extend as far as that command's area of influence. Boonie (or sunhats) come to mind and that DOES have 670-1 guidance. The biggest example I see all the time are unique team shooting hats at military matches. The event SOP allows them, and warns participants greatly that once they step off the range they are subject to 670-1 and the hell that follows if caught wearing them outside the competition area on the general Post/Base.

As a SSG, you are in a very powerful position of influence with Jr Enlisted. Their observation of what is "right" comes directly from you.

I'd say your best chance of getting that camo belt is writing the memo yourself, and passing it by your 1SG to see if the commander would be on board for the unit to wear it in your unit area.
