How likely am I to get stationed in Washington state (which is where I want to live)? In the Army, I got my duty station of choice on my second enlistment contract. (During my first four years, I didn't have a location preference.) Also, in the Army, we only had three uniform sets (formal, duty, and fitness apparel), why does the Navy have like 11 uniforms? And does every sailor get every single one of those uniforms?

You know, we actually do have this MOS in the Army and we do offer duty station of choice reenlistments. The Army actually has the most robust reenlistment program of any branch, offering duty station of choice, stabilization, and training options in a 15 month window. No other branch offers as many options, as many locations, or gives you such a large window of opportunity to reenlist.

If you're trying to get to Washington state, JBLM is a much larger base with more openings than Bremerton NAS.

I actually spoke to Army recruiters last fall: At the time I wanted to go active duty EOD. They told me I'm barred from doing active because I did 7.5 years without making E5 (I was shy of the 720 points). I said, "Okay, can I do a EOD in the Reserves?"... They also said I have to pick another MOS. On top of all that, I'd have to repeat BCT to re-enter the Army. Granted, I'll happily repeat BCT if it leads to an Active duty career in the MOS I desire; but this is not the case.

I can't tell you any specifics, but I will give you the advice I gave my sailors who wanted specific things. Find out who your detailer is (somewhere in Millington). Get them on the phone if you can and ask them what you need to do to get a particular set of orders. If you have family, support stuff in a certain place, it helps. The detailers, in my experience, always try to work with the sailors. It really doesn't help them to have upset sailors who don't stay in, but remember there are certain things they have to fill. But, talking to them, will go a long ways to helping you get what you want.

As for the uniforms, I wish I knew!!! At sea I had to carry all the working uni's and all the dress/formal uni's just in case...

Best of luck to you!
