Does anyone have experience with family trailing them oconus without doing a deferment?

We are in a situation where it being cut extremely close if they'll get there no fee passports in time. After pushing my report date I still didnt get orders cut until 5 weeks out from my new report date therefore was not able to do their no fee applications until then.
I've been in constant communication with my trans office but they cannot schedule them for a flight until they recieve them. Based on what the passport office told me its looking 50/50 that they get turned around in time.
Just seeing what advice amd experience anyone has that has PCSd oconus with family before.

If they can't travel with you (concurrent travel) they will follow you (non concurrent travel) when they get their passports. You have to request non concurrent travel from reassignment section. That will allow them to continue to draw BAH for your CONUS location. You will reside in the barracks until its time for them to join you

When my spouse had to report OCONUS his orders were a little last minute and we weren't able to get everything for the family to travel together. I traveled with the kids a month after his arrival. It's not ideal, especially traveling with little ones, but it is doable. It is not uncommon to have family with nonconcurrent travel dates/orders.

Work the avenue to get regular passports and pay for them. Best person to take care of your family is not always the government and often times you.

We have them already. Problem is because of covid you cant get in without the no-fee.

For locations that require a passport, official travel will not issue plane tickets until the family members have passports.
