My unit does block leave like quite a few. They neglected to take in account staff duty and a few other duties during this time and the amount of people taking leave/pass. I have a Soldier who has a signed pass and yet still got put on the staff duty roster after the passes were already signed. When it was brought up, they said they'd comp her a day, but she already had plans and tickets for travel during that day. I'm not finding the right regulation that states that they cannot force her to do Staff Duty.

Your commander is the pass granting authority and the authority for assigning staff duty days. It's handled by the 1SG, but the authority to task is the Commanders. Take the issue to the Commander and 1SG. A Soldier shouldn't have to lose money because of a poor leadership decision

If she had a pass signed and plans made then whoever signed off on her pass can now add their name to the Staff Duty Roster. No comp day to cover the kiester of the Duty Officer, Duty NCO. She has the time off and they had better find the right person to pull that duty or they should do it themselves.
If you are her sergeant you need to deal with this or plan on working this weekend. Such a simple task, but when a persons head is somewhere else and not sitting squarely on their shoulders then it becomes a learning moment. It sure isn't her fault....take care of it sergeant or pass it up your chain of command and suffer the butt chewing that will commence when they realize you are wasting their time with a rather menial staff duty roster issue.

I'm sadly going to be back in the states in leave while she has her shift. I've been talking with the commander and he doesn't care, just keeps saying at some point she'll get a comp day but hasn't even said when yet.

SGT (Join to see) - Sort of sounds like a very cold commander. This soldiers morale is going to be in the pits and produce a very bitter person over this situation. She was right to talk to you about it first but when you couldn't get anywhere with the higher ups I think she should have gone to see the 1stSgt herself. Let them tell her to her face why they will not honor the pass.
